Acceleration Training

If you come into an Athletic Republic training center, you’ll leave faster, fitter and more powerful. You’ll learn the skill of sprinting quicker than you ever could over ground. Because at Athletic Republic, we improve your running mechanics. We improve your stride, your knee drive, your arm swing, your leg turnover, even the way you carry your head. You’ll be fluid and efficient, far more powerful and sustain your effort far longer than you ever thought possible.

How do we do this? We position our athletes in an Optimal Training Environment that consists of three elements: our proprietary equipment, our Acceleration Training Programs and our qualified trainers.

Our Generation II Super Treadmill may look like an industrial version of the standard treadmills available on the market today, but it performs like a finely tuned training instrument.

Styling: While you run in front of a mirror, you’ll notice the motor on the Super Treadmill is positioned below the belt, so that it doesn’t interfere with your view of your feet in motion. This provides instant visual feedback on your running form. You and your trainer can see what your feet are doing, how they’re landing and taking off. Plus, our treadmills don’t bounce or slip like standard treadmills, so the forces you experience are the same as they are on the field, on the court or on the track. This means that you can see the change when our trainer tells you to keep your toes up or lift your knees higher.

Function: With incline possible to 40-percent grades and decline to 10-percent grades, you will be challenged to a level that matches your ability and progress. Working at a variety of speeds and grades allows us to optimize your ability to produce power. Power from the start, power that gives you that burst vital to success in sport. The hydraulic cylinders moving this baby can be calibrated to reduce knee stress by 30 to 60 percent at foot strike, easing the impact to your body. The subsurface provides additional critical shock absorption for any size athlete, but is rigid enough to provide valuable sensory feedback: You can feel the changes you make in your stride.

Speed: The motor ramps up from 0 to 28 miles per hour in less than three seconds, which means you’ll work harder to keep up as we take you to a speed that is safely just beyond what you thought was your max. You create, with your trainer by your side, a new and more efficient style of running, and you can sense the change.

Science: Research shows that incline running recruits the muscles responsible for forward acceleration at a level two to three times higher than level running at the same stride frequency; you produce more power during each stride, during both push-off and recovery.

Accessories: Our Cord technologies allow us to provide resistance at “game speed” without altering movement mechanics or the movement patterns of key muscles. This proprietary training approach is essential to making meaningful improvements in throwing or kicking velocity, bat or club head speed, or any complex, high-speed movement that is key to your sport.
